New Anti-Cyber Harassment Task Force Supports Veterinary Professionals

In Support of Mental Health Awareness in May, New Anti-Cyber Harassment Task Force Supports Veterinary Professionals with Wide Range of Resources

May 30, 2023

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA — Not One More Vet’s (NOMV) Anti-Cyber Harassment Task Force is excited to release a new resource to support the veterinary community members impacted by cyber harassment. This project is possible thanks to the generous contribution of our sponsor Koala Health

The Anti-Cyber-Harassment Task Force seeks to protect the mental health and wellbeing of veterinary professionals from the damage caused by cyber harassment attacks. The task force was co-created by Dr. Meghan Vaught, DVM, DACVECC, Medical Director at MVMC and Sarah Mills, Vice President of Marketing and Communications at Rarebreed.

The task force, composed of experienced professionals from the veterinary and communications industries, identified four goals: to provide resources to veterinary professionals to prevent cyber harassment; to support those who are being cyber harassed; to provide veterinary professionals with tools to support their colleagues experiencing cyber harassment; and to create cyber harassment educational resources and distribute them throughout the veterinary community.

Six veterinary professionals are wearing scrubs and smiling towards the camera. Three of the people in the image are giving a "thumbs up" and the person in the front of the group holds a piece of paper that shows a "Thank You" message.

“At NOMV, we recognize that cyber harassment is a growing problem impacting the mental wellbeing of the veterinary community and we are committed to supporting those impacted,” said Bri Golob, MSW, Registered Clinical Social Work Intern, Director of Programs at NOMV. “We are thrilled to have such a talented and experienced group of professionals on our Anti-Cyber Harassment Task Force, and we look forward to sharing the resources created by this incredible team with the veterinary community.”

“Koala Health works closely with pet parents and vets every day, so we’re committed to helping our veterinarian partners and their staff develop the necessary tools to prevent and fight harassment and create a safe and secure working environment,” stated Gavin Cotter, CEO of Koala Health. To learn more about the Anti-Cyber Harassment Task Force and the resources available, visit nomv.org/anti-cyber-harassment.
