How long have you volunteered with NOMV?

Since January of 2021.

What is your role(s) with NOMV?

Student Representative with AUCVM, Social Media Committee member, and Student Support Group member.

What’s your professional role?

Student class of 2023

What’s your favorite thing about volunteering for NOMV?

I thought my favorite thing would be getting to help promote mental health awareness and general wellness in veterinary medicine, but that has become second favorite to meeting such positive, passionate and empathetic men and women that volunteer with NOMV. This organization is filled with such amazing volunteers and that has become my favorite part of my journey with NOMV.

Why do you volunteer for NOMV?

I began to volunteer as a student rep for my school so that the students could appreciate the resources that NOMV provides, and now I volunteer so that I can help spread the resources and support to everyone in this career field.

What’s a fun fact about you?

I absolutely love working with cows! I spend most of my school breaks back home on the family farm so I can get as much time with them (and my family) as possible.

Where are you located?

Alabama

Why are you committed to the NOMV mission?

Everyone deserves to know that they are important, seen and heard. NOMV does that so consistently and I just want to dedicate part of myself to spreading that love and support.

What goals do you have for the future of your profession?

My main goal is for every veterinarian, vet technician and support staff member to understand that their wellness and health come first. They deserve fair working hours, support from their coworkers, dedicated meal breaks and above all else they deserve to feel like they are seen as a human rather than just their career title.

What are your aspirations within NOMV?

I want to become more involved in the committees I’ve already dedicated to and continue learning from my amazing mentors. I have a lot of passion but very little experience with this kind of work so I’m eager to just continue growing as a professional and as a person with their help. I plan to continue volunteering with NOMV for many years to come.
